Why impractical? We hardly use margarine/butter/spreads since we found that sandwiches are often sold in the UK without it (e.g. you don't need it if you've got mayonnaise) so we use butter rather than margarine (since medical opinion has changed) and keep a little on the counter in a glass dish similar to your new one and most of the block in the fridge.
maybe you can use it for small pots of jam on the breakfast table......to stop the bees.......not sure that bees are such an issue....but hey, it's a good excuse to use such a lovely cover.

ja,maybe that's what we need to do, although in our house we love our butter! impractical in that butter goes everywhere!
Hello shops, have you see the size of the blocks of butter on the shelves?!
I share your pain. I have yet to find a decent size dish. Oh motherly woes :)

OK I see why you said it's impractical now. Must admit the butter dishes we use have good edges on them. What a shame. This one is really beautiful.
Don't fear-he will still get put to use!x
